Covering the SP2010 implementation for Tesco. This system is a new collaboration platform covering 16 countries, up to 50,000 end users by 2011. The design of this intranet is quite different from traditional business unit focussed implementations that are represent the business hierarchy. For Tesco we have used the MySite as the default landing page for every user so that they get a fully personalised view of their Tesco role. Centred around the SP2010 activity feed system the home page displays activity from not only the OOB social and profile information but also extensions for ECM data. The activity feed has been extended to display activity within the team collaboration spaces giving the user a real flow of activity from their teams into one place.

COM606 - Is SharePoint 2010 the panacea to the shortcomings & difficulties we had with SharePoint 2007? - Randy Perkins
After years of struggling with Lotus Notes and Office 2003, in 2007 a document centric organisation decided to deploy SharePoint 2007 and Office 2007. Their hope:
• To standardise office templates
• create and deploy over 20 content types (across multiple site collections)
• use workflow to automate document reviews and approval process
• ensure that metadata was adhered to
• provide an enterprise search platform to staff
This presentation explains the real life difficulties and successes they had. For example should they develop custom code or buy third party products to cover the functionality gap? Should they spend money on automating tasks or let the users continue doing some tasks manually? But ultimately the aim is to answer if SharePoint 2010 is panacea to their SharePoint 2007 difficulties?
COM607 - The secrets of successful Enterprise Social Computing with SharePoint 2010 - Symon Garfield
Social Computing is a phenomenon that is sweeping the world. Facebook now has a larger population than the United States of America. Social Computing is moving inexorably from the consumer world into the Enterprise and Microsoft has invested heavily to ensure that SharePoint 2010 becomes one or the market leading Enterprise Social Computing platforms. But many organisations are wary of the perceived risks; struggle to achieve successful user adoption; or are unable to create business cases or demonstrate real business value from their social computing investments.
COM608 - Configuring SQL reporting services in SharePoint integrated mode - Mark Macrae
Configuring SQL reporting services in SharePoint integrated mode
The aim of this presentation is to consolidate all the best practices for configuring SSRS in SharePoint Integrated mode, collected from my real world experience of deploying this in varying situations. I will focus on SharePoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2, but will also discuss the various combinations of SQL Server 2005 and above, and SharePoint 2007 and above. I will install and configure SSRS with Report Builder as a live demo during the presentation, pausing at each stage to discuss best practice for such topics as distributed farm deployments, load balancing, scale out, and Extranet scenarios.
COM609 - Taking SharePoint 2010 Offline - Aonghus Fraser
Many clients need the facility to work offline on occasion, especially those with a mobile sales team, or those being upgraded to SharePoint from a Lotus Notes environment used to offline replication. The content that sales people need access to can be rich and bandwidth-intensive, which makes a good 3G signal or poor Wi-Fi connection frustrating for the salesperson to use, not to mention the client. This session will cover the pros and cons of the options available for offline SharePoint, and why/how to build a Silverlight 4 out-of-browser application driven by SharePoint 2010, solving connectivity issues and taking advantage of SPMetal, LINQ, WCF, Isolated Storage and Silverlight.

COM612 - Lessons learned migrating corporate intranets to SharePoint - Ian Woodgate
How do you take over 1600 pages of Intranet content, and thousands of documents, and migrate them smoothly to a SharePoint based site that gives authors and users what they need?
Based on a recent project for one of the largest building societies in the UK, and drawing on wider experience, I'll be walking through the approach and process from start to finish. We'll include making the business case, success criteria, SharePoint version decisions, content (re)organisation, managing user adoption and cultural change, governance, content migration, and training. We'll wrap up by reviewing the benefits, both planned and unplanned, and some of the lessons we have learnt along the way on this kind of project.
COM613 - Planning Roles and Salaries for 2010 Professionals - John Timney
SharePoint 2010 is simply put, nothing like SharePoint 2007! It is vastly more scalable, significantly more complex, and hugely appealing as an information management hub. A consequence of the successful re-architecture of the product to such a strategic hub product and the core of the Microsoft tools strategy is that programmes and projects, and consequently employers and recruiters need to think carefully about the new range of planning roles and skill sets required to satisfy a successful end to end delivery of SharePoint 2010. To compound this, salaries for SharePoint 2010 Professionals across the board have increased dramatically by as much as 20% as organisations perform a land grab on experienced staff, realising that those better placed will not only weather this skills storm but grab a host of emerging new business opportunities. Recruiters don't get it, nor does HR, so what will you demand as your next planning role in your SharePoint 2010 career path, and what salary range should you expect as a SharePoint 2010 professional?
COM614 - Preparing for SharePoint 2010 and real world experiences - Paul Grimley
This session will talk about sharing thoughts about how to prepare for SharePoint 2010 whether this be an upgrade or a greenfield implementation and things to consider to make the implementation as successful as possible. I will touch on planning the upgrade / implementation and how best to do it, who to involve, discuss challenges and how to overcome them
COM615 - Search Driven Knowledge Management in SharePoint - Ari Bakker
Having difficulty finding knowledge within a corporate environment? Market researchers were having similar problems in a global organisation before a new search driven SharePoint solution was developed. It combined the metadata and search features to create a dynamic views of information, making it easy for different market researchers to find exactly what they were after.
In this session we'll cover how we uncovered the needs of the users and created the search driven knowledge management solution inside SharePoint. We'll also cover the challenges of deploying this site into a large corporate deployment with strict change management procedures.
COM616 - Cutting Costs Using SharePoint 2010 - Alan Richards
Finances are tight and School across the UK are trying to find ways to cut costs. In September 2010 West Hatch High School undertook an ambitious project, they dubbed it the 'Paperless School Project'. The goal to replace as many paper forms across the School as possible by using the power of SharePoint 2010.
This session you will hear from Alan Richards, Information Systems Manager at West Hatch how using SharePoint 2010, InfoPath 2010 and SharePoint Designer 2010 they transformed paper into data rich electronic forms. Using these 3 tools West Hatch transformed the way they collect and use data across the School, making storage, retrieval and analysis of that data easier and more responsive to the Schools needs. This session will be mainly demo led showing you how to use these 3 tools to produce SharePoint forms without any coding knowledge.
